The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MESRS) has been organising since Tuesday 09 August 2022, an awareness and orientation campaign for new baccalaureate holders on the courses available in Benin’s public universities. The initiative ends this Saturday 13 August 2022 and takes place on the campuses of public universities and in several localities in the 77 communes of Benin.
The tour started on Tuesday 9 August by the executives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MESRS) is a twofold mission. Firstly, it is part of the ranking and selection of those admitted to the BAC 2022. The second objective of the tour is to inform the new baccalaureate holders about the opportunities that exist in the four public universities of Benin.
The General Education Colleges of Abomey and Bohicon hosted the event in Zou.
In the department of Zou, it is the Colleges of General Education of Abomey and Bohicon that hosted this awareness and information session on Thursday 11 August. The delegation of the MESRS is led by the Secretary General of the Ministry (SGM) Ansèque C. GOMEZ accompanied by several officials including the communication focal point of the MESRS Imourane ISSIFOU, the Rector of the National University of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (UNSTIM), Professor Joachim Djimon GBENOU, and the Vice-Rector in charge of Academic Affairs of UNSTIM, Professor Edmond Codjo ADJOVI.
At the beginning of the session, the Secretary General of the Ministry (SGM) Ansèque C. GOMEZ recalled the context of the present activity while briefly presenting the four public universities and the registration process in each of them. These are the two multidisciplinary universities and the thematic universities, one specialising in STEM and the other in agricultural sciences.

As far as registration is concerned, the participants were given a presentation by the communication focal point on the use and registration on the https://apresmonbac.bj platform. The platform is dedicated to new baccalaureate holders to enable them to complete the stage of choosing courses in public institutions of higher education in Benin.
Academic success depends on the choice made, according to the Vice-Chancellor of Unstim.
“A good choice is the guarantee of success in university studies”, said the Vice-Chancellor of Unstim in his opening remarks. Hence the need for new baccalaureate holders to take part in such sessions in order to be better informed, said the Vice-Chancellor of Unstim. Because, he insists, they really help to have a more balanced idea of the training courses available, the opportunities and the conditions to be fulfilled in order to receive a grant or any other university allowance. The session was also an opportunity for the Vice-Chancellor of Unstim to give details on the content of the 2022-2023 edition of the orientation guide.
The new baccalaureate holders present were very satisfied.
As the session continued, there was a great deal of excitement among the new graduates. They did not hesitate to express their thirst for real information through various questions. The Vice-Chancellor and the focal point did not fail to explain their concerns before closing the morning session.
After Abomey, the delegation headed to Bohicon in the afternoon, where it carried out the same exercise.
