In Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor\u00e9 will be sworn in as president of the transition on Friday 21 October 2022. This investiture ceremony follows his unanimous designation on 15 October by a national assembly of the nation’s active forces<\/a>. At 34, Ibrahim Traor\u00e9 will become the second youngest president of the country of the men of integrity. One of his greatest challenges is security, where Burkina Faso faces numerous terrorist attacks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The newly elected president will be responsible of leading his country towards greater political and security stability. Indeed, Burkina has experienced two coups in the space of eight months.<\/p>\n\n

According to the Constitutional Council’s press release, the formal hearing for the swearing in of Mr Ibrahim Traor\u00e9 (…) as president of the transition is set for Friday 21 October at 10am (local and GMT) in the Constitutional Council’s courtroom.<\/p>\n\n

Ibrahim Traor\u00e9 will officially replace Lieutenant-Colonel Paul Henri Damiba whose government was overthrown on 30 September by elements of the MPSR<\/a> (Patriotic Movement of Safeguard and Restoration).<\/p>\n\n

Investiture in compliance with ECOWAS conditions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

This investiture, stipulated by the transition charter, must in principle respect the conditions set by ECOWAS. The end of the transition is scheduled for 2024, and its president is not eligible for the general elections to be held at the end of that period.<\/p>\n\n
