The Togolese government plans to set up a national fund for the development of sport (FONADES). This contribution from the executive will reinforce the efforts of the various sports federations. The subject was discussed on Wednesday in the Council of Ministers chaired by the Head of State, Faure Gnassingb\u00e9. Eight sports are included in the FONADES program.<\/strong><\/p> \n \n

Make sport a pillar of the national economy. It is in this perspective that the government has planned to set up the national fund for the development of sport (FONADES). In the communication presented by the Minister of Sports and Leisure, Lidi Bessi-Kama, this national fund will allow the emergence of a sports industry capable of supporting and structuring the sports economy.<\/p> \n \n

Reforms already underway to mobilise resources<\/strong><\/h2> \n \n

To ensure that this national fund is set up, the government has undertaken several reforms, notably the establishment of mechanisms for the optimal mobilisation of financial resources through the creation of FONADES.<\/p> \n \n

According to the government, the envisaged reform of the fund will contribute to the development of the sports industry in line with the government’s 2020-2025 roadmap.<\/p> \n \n

Eight sports to be honoured<\/strong><\/h2> \n \n

8 sports are included in the program (FONADES). These include football (Match of the Stars, Independence Trophy), wrestling (Code Wrestling Tournament), athletics (Road Relay Race), beach handball (Togo Beach Handball Games), basketball (Lom\u00e9 Resing Stars), fencing (Lom\u00e9 International Challenge), judo (International Tournament of Hope), and Teqball (Teqball Fun)<\/p> \n \n

FONADES, a breath of fresh air for federations <\/strong><\/h2> \n \n

FONADES is a program designed to support the efforts of sports federations. This initiative comes as in January 2022, the National Olympic Committee of Togo (NOC-Togo) and the national sports federations presented the \u201cTogo Sport Challenge \u201c project, a program for the development of national sport. The project offers the partners the widest possible exposure and direct access to all their potential targets.
