Davido was the guest on the ABtalks<\/em> show hosted by Anas Bukhash on YouTube<\/strong>: the Nigerian superstar opened up and shared some of his struggles, his journey but also his greatest fear.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Singer, songwriter and producer Davido is one of the most popular Afrobeats artists in the world. As famous and adulated as he is, the singer is still a human being with doubts and apprehensions. As you might have guessed, Davido’s greatest fear is linked to his musical career.<\/p>\n\n

As he confessed in the same interview, he loves fame, despite its disadvantages<\/a>. As a result, the artist simply dreads decline. He is aware that fame is not eternal and thus dreads the precise moment when he will lose the admiration and love of his fans; when his talent will be outdated.<\/p>\n\n

“I am not really scared of much but like I told you I love my job so much. There is so much love I get. I know it’s not going to last forever. Nobody is on top forever. It’s impossible. When I get on stage, people cry, they go crazy. But it’s going to get a point in my career where it’s gonna start slowing down. Everybody goes through it. That’s what I’m really scared of. I never want to get there.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

To illustrate his point, Davido gave the example of a “very good friend” who is none other than the footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. Seeing him harassed and booed after his World Cup defeat, despite all his achievements, was a real shock to him. And it perfectly goes with the interpreter of Unvailable’s<\/em> greatest fear.<\/p>\n\n

“It’s crazy being on top of the world and the next time , you’re not. That’s my greatest fear. I work too hard for it to come and spoil with something.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n

In order to avoid being caught unawares by this step, which he considers inevitable, Davido plans to take early retirement at the height of his fame.<\/p>\n\n

” I always make a joke to my friends. I’m like: I’m gonna retire before I turn sour. There’s by force retirement when you have to just give it up but I want to retire on a pedestal. I always ask God to tell me the right time to [quit] “<\/em><\/p>\n\n
