The elaboration of the strategic and operational plan 2022-2024 of the African, Indian Ocean and Caribbean Hospitals Network (RESHAOC) started on Thursday 28 April 2022 in Benin. This was done through a retreat of the focal points of the member countries of this association.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The said meetings, held at the Benin Royal Hotel in Cotonou, were attended by the focal points of seven member countries of the network such as Benin, Morocco, Togo, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Senegal, Mali and France. Partners such as the French Hospital Federation, represented by H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Branco, and the General Directorate of Offers and Care, represented by Emilie Sobac, were also present. On this occasion, the Executive Secretary of RESHAOC, prof. Dieudonn\u00e9 Gnonlonfoun, who was in charge of welcoming and thanking the participants, did not fail to highlight the various activities of the workshop. “I am very happy to know that we are all gathered here at the Benin Royal Hotel for two days during which we will not only elaborate and validate RESHAOC’s strategic operational plan, but also hold a retreat to examine the recommendations of the 11th Hospital Meetings held in Marrakech, Morocco, on “the place of hospitals in the implementation of universal health coverage”, and to proceed with the renewal of our network’s bodies”, he hastened to say. <\/p>\n\n

In addition, for the Beninese Minister of Health, who was represented by Mr Francis Dossou, the support of RESHAOC is essential for the strengthening of the health system of member countries. “In recent years, the health sector in Benin has undertaken profound reforms that aim not only to improve the quality of care in our health facilities but also to make this care more accessible to our populations. Even if the results of these various reforms are not yet sufficiently visible,” he adds, “it is appreciable that multilateral institutions such as yours accompany us so that the main actors in our hospitals better assimilate the new rules that will henceforth govern the relationship between the State, the hospital and the beneficiary populations.<\/p>\n\n

What is RESHAOC? <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

In addition, it should be noted that RESHAOC is a pan-African network of hospitals created as a result of the desire of hospital staff to pool their human and material resources within the framework of inter-hospital collaboration.<\/p>\n\n

Created in 1996 in Burkina Faso, the network has 17 member countries and 123 hospitals. Thus, its main missions are to promote partnership between the various health care institutions that are members and health care stakeholders in general, and to collaborate with the governments of member countries in order to assist in the analysis and\/or definition of hospital policies and strategies thanks to the expertise available within it.<\/p>\n\n

Every two years, it holds general assemblies called hospital days around a central theme, as well as numerous conferences, round tables and symposiums on important subjects relating to health and hospital management.
