In a video on her YouTube account on May 2, Chidinma revealed that she was blind at birth.

Nigerian musician and now gospel singer Chidinma Ekile opened up about her childhood.

“This is my story and no one would tell it better than I would.”

She revealed that she was born lacking one sense: sight Her eyes were tightly closed at birth.

Chidinma’s parents used various medical treatments to cure their blind daughter Sadly, these methods all proved abortive.

“I was born blind. I didn’t open my eyes at all and that became a challenge. My parents tried all they could to get this baby (herself, ed.) to see.”

Hopeless, baby Chidinma’s parents finally turned to God.

«We had to resort to God», she said with a smile.

She says her mother suddenly started praying, fasting and going to church. And that’s what overcame the blindness.

“I eventually opened my eyes. I did, which was such a miracle. According to her (her mother, ed.), the eyes were so red like blood red. That became another issue. Another round of fasting and praying, anointing oil, Bible here and there… Eventually, I started to see.”

Meanwhile, her mother promised God that if he granted sight to her child, she would dedicate her to him. And she kept her promise.

“Without my knowlege, my mom apparently made a deal with God. You know how people just go into covenant without telling the person [concernée],”she said with a smile before proceeding.

“So she started taking me to church. I was going to church with her every time. It became a tradition for myself and my mom. So we started going to church together.”
