The logistic branch of the Bolloré group in Africa acquired by the Italian-Swiss shipping company Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), change its name. The company now operates as Africa Global Logistics (AGL). The announcement was made this Thursday, March 30 through a press release of the MSC at the launching of the new brand.
After its purchase in December 2022, Bolloré’s logistics legacy in Africa was renamed Africa Global Logistics. Incorporated into the MSC, AGL aims to be the multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, maritime and rail) of reference in Africa. It says it wants to “improve the productivity of the terminals it operates” and “accelerate its investments” on the African continent.
We are pleased to start this adventure with the MSC family. This new brand reinforces our ambition to be a trusted logistics partner for our customers in Africa and around the world, while underlining our commitment to innovate and participate alongside African States and partners in the transformations of the continent. I am confident that with the continued engagement of our teams, we will be able to design innovative solutions to create value for our customers and partners,” said Phillipe Labonne, President of AGL, reported by Agenceecofin.
Thus, the new brand claims to have 250 logistics and maritime agencies, 22 port and rail concessions, 66 dry ports and 2 river terminals. Thanks to its expertise developed over a century and more than 21,000 employees in 49 countries, AGL provides its African and global customers with tailor-made and innovative global logistics solutions, with the ambition to contribute sustainably to Africa’s transformations.
It should be noted that the Bolloré group which had been sold this logistic branch for 5.7 billion euros to MSC had assured to keep a strong presence in Africa, through Canal and pursue its developments on this continent in many sectors such as communication, entertainment, telecoms and publishing.
