The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has unveiled its rankings for the month of August 2022. Senegal remains the undisputed leader in Africa and 18th in the world. Benin, on the other hand, has not moved an inch and is still ranked 91st in the world.

Senegal, the 2021 African champion, has kept its leading position on African soil, as indicated by the FIFA ranking of this month of August 2022 But this time, the Lions of Teranga are closely followed by Morocco and Tunisia. Sadio Mané’s teammates are ranked 18th in the world. The recent victories against Rwanda (0-1) and Benin (3-1) in the qualifiers for the next African Cup have confirmed the good dynamics of Aliou Cissé’s colts. It should be noted, however, that the Atlas Lions lose a place in the world rankings due to the erasure of past results.

Further down the rankings, the Democratic Republic of Congo moved up one place to 72nd in the world, passing Cape Verde. But it is above all Mauritania (107th) and Botswana (146th), which have gained 3 places each, that have made the most spectacular progress. Mozambique (116th) and Angola (120th) also gained two places.

Benin remains stuck in the ranking.

The new FIFA ranking of national teams of this Thursday, August 25 has not brought any change on the rank that Benin occupies, that of 91st on the world chessboard. The Beninese national football team retains its place as in the previous hierarchy unveiled on 23 June 2022.
