The official list of referees for the U17 Women’s World Cup was announced on Tuesday 30 August 2022. 14 female referees, 28 assistant referees, three reserve referees and 16 video referees are selected to ensure that the matches are properly conducted. Nine African referees are on the list.
The FIFA Referees’ Committee has released its full list for the U17 Women’s World Cup. Among the 14 women referees selected, two are African. They are Rivet Maria from Mauritius and Karboubi Bouchra from Morocco.
As for the assistant referees, four are from the continent: Jermoumi Fatiha and Hamdi Soukaina, both from Morocco, Mauritian Victoire Queency and Egyptian Atef Said Yara.
Abebe Lidya Tafesse (Ethiopia) and Viana Letticia (Eswatini) are among the VAR referees for the competition. The Tunisian GANOUATI Dorsaf is among the three reserve referees.

For the first time, video assistance will be used in a women’s U17 competition. The referees selected to officiate at the competition will also be candidates for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023.
“In terms of refereeing, this is of course an important step in the preparation of the candidates for the 2023 Women’s World Cup,” explained Pierluigi Collina, Chairman of the Referees’ Committee, on FIFA’s website.
The U-17 Women’s World Cup matches will be held in the Indian cities of Bhubaneswar, Goa, and Navi Mumbai from 11 to 30 October 2022.
