On the evening of this Tuesday 25 October 2022, the Prime Minister, Mr. Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambela unveiled the MPSR II government. Appointed by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, president of the Burkinabe transition on 21 October 2022, the head of government took four days to compose his government. C’est un gouvernement réduit à un nombre de 20 ministres et trois ministres délégués qui est dévoilé ce mardi 25 octobre 2022. In this government, there are 16 new ministers and four former ministers of the former regime of Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Damiba.
The ministers who have been reappointed are Bassolma Bazié, Minister of Civil Service, Olivia Rouamba, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean Claude Kargougou, Minister of Public Hygiene and Health, and Minister of Digital Transition, Aminata Sabané.
Brief presentation of some new ministers
Adjima Thiombiano, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation
Professor Adjima Thiombiano is the new Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. He was appointed on October 25, 2022. He has been a full professor in plant biology and ecology since 2011.
Mr Thiombiano, 56, has held several positions in university administration. He was, among others, Director General of the Institute of Sciences in Ouagadougou and President of the Thomas Sankara University.
He has also received training in several other areas. These include environmental assessment, phytosociology, species and ecosystem productivity and fauna-flora interaction.
Nandy Somé/Diallo, Minister of Solidarity, Humanitarian Action, National Reconciliation, Gender and Family
Nandy Somé/Diallo, a civil administrator by training, geographer, trainer in civil status and alternative conflict management, has been at the head of a “super ministry” of solidarity, humanitarian action, national reconciliation, gender and the family since 25 October 2022.
She has held, among others, the position of governor of the Centre-North region and director of cabinet of the Mediator of Faso.
From April 2022 until this appointment, she was Secretary General of the Ministry of Religious and Customary Affairs.
Bibata Nébié/Ouédraogo, Minister of Justice, Human Rights
Magistrate Bibata Nébié/Ouédraogo, appointed Minister of Justice, Human Rights, in charge of relations with institutions, Keeper of the Seals on 25 October 2022. This magistrate of exceptional rank has been Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice since April 2022.
Aboubacar Nacanabo appointed Minister of Economy, Finance and Forecasting
Dr Aboubakar Nacanabo, tax inspector and expert in international taxation, has been appointed Minister of Economy, Finance and Forecasting, according to a decree read out on RTB on 25 October 2022 by the Secretary General of the Government and the Council of Ministers, Jacques Sosthène Dingara.
Adama Luc Sorgho, Minister of Infrastructure and Opening Up
Adama Luc Sorgho was appointed Minister of Infrastructure and Opening-up on 25 October 2022. A public works engineer, he has held several positions in the administration, including Director of Infrastructure and Equipment at the Presidency of Faso and Director General of Road Maintenance (DGER).
