Agility is one of the largest private owners and developers of warehouse and light industrial parks in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Given the better performance of African economies in terms of digital skills and logistics, the company evaluates the world’s 50 emerging countries each year according to specific criteria.

20th in the world and 1st on the continent, Morocco is rising to the rank of emerging countries in the field of logistics. This ranking measures the overall competitiveness of logistics assets, business climate and, this time, digital readiness. These criteria are subdivided into the following categories: domestics logistics opportunities, international logistics opportunities, business fundamental, digital readiness, overall index score. Against these benchmarks, Morocco fares well in the domestics logistics opportunities category with a score of 4.59 and a score of 5.00 in the international logistics opportunities group. Particularly in the “business fundamentals” category, Morocco is ranked 9th in the world. However, in the “digital readiness” family, it only ranks 36th in the world, with a score equivalent to 4.34. The sum of the scores in these different categories gave him an overall index score of 5.04.

Prepared by Transport Intelligence (Ti), Agility Logistics Index is a supply chain company. It is also a leading company that invests in technologies to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the supply chain. For this 13th edition, it aimed to quantify in a first step the preparation for digitisation which allows to examine digital skills, training, internet access, e-commerce growth. Secondly, to assess the investment climate and the ability to foster the development of start-ups. Similarly, sustainability factors such as the renewable energy mix, emissions intensity reduction and green initiatives will be assessed. It is in this vein that Agility CEO Tarek Sultan has stated that “The competitiveness of emerging markets will be determined by their ability to build digitally literate businesses and human resources with a strong commitment to lowering their emissions in a way that promotes growth rather than sacrificing it” (midimadagasikara 09 February 2022).
