Boubacar Toure, former Senegalese international, was sentenced Tuesday in France to 10 months in prison suspended. In January 2021, the pivot who was then playing in Roanne (Elite championship club), had fractured the jaw of an opponent.
The prosecutor of Roanne, Abdelkrim Grini, had required 9 months of suspended prison and 2 500 euros of fine. The court sentenced him to 10 months suspended sentence and 2,500 euros.
The player, who was transferred this summer to Bursa (Turkey), punched the Bosnian international of Boulogne-Levallois, Miralem Halilovic, on January 31, 2021, causing a fracture in his jaw.
He was suspended for ten games by the French Basketball League while Halilovic remained away from the court for seven months following this gesture.
As reported by the local newspaper Le Progrès, Boubacar Touré was absent from the hearing and was not represented by a lawyer.
