Several demonstrators were in the streets of Ouagadougou this Tuesday morning. The latter, opposed to the arrival of the ECOWAS mission in Burkina that very day, blocked the Boulevard Mouammar Kadhafi and several access roads. These mood swings are noted in the capital, despite the injunctions of the new strongman of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, prohibiting all forms of demonstrations against the emissaries of the sub-regional institution.
The Boulevard Mouammar Kadhafi and all the access roads leading to the Kossyam Palace, from the traffic lights of the Palace Hotel to the level of the café-resto la Perle in Ouaga 2000, are barricaded by demonstrators this morning at 8 am.
Impossible for drivers of vehicles and motorcycles to use the boulevard Muammar Gaddafi. They were forced to turn back on the orders of a crowd of demonstrators present at this strategic point of the city.
Demonstrations despite warnings from Captain Traoré
After the announcement of the arrival of the ECOWAS mission in Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré nevertheless called on Burkinabè not to disrupt the initiative, while deploring the behavior that calls for demonstrations against the emissaries of the sub-regional institution.
“It is with amazement and regret that the president of the MPSR (Patriotic Movement for Safeguarding and Restoration) notes the circulation of messages calling to prevent the smooth running of this mission,” he lamented.
According to the new president of the transition in Burkina, this visit of ECOWAS is part of “the support that our country receives from this organization. At the same time, Captain Ibrahim Traoré calls on Burkinabè to trust them.
”The MPSR calls on the population to trust the new transitional authorities to conduct the affairs of state. He reassures that the interest of our nation will be preserved in all circumstances“he said.
Finally, Captain Ibrahim Traoré did not fail to warn all those who will try to disrupt the arrival of the ECOWAS delegation.
