Nollywood actor Charles Okocha scolded his daughter Mercy for drinking gari, a cassava semolina popular in West Africa.

The Nigerian actor posted a video on the TikTok app in which his daughter is seen enjoying gari with peanuts and ice. This culinary choice of Mercy Okocha seems to strongly disturb and disappoint her father. The latter believes that gari is a meal for the lower class people and therefore unworthy of his child.

Charles Okocha wondered what his celebrity friends would say if they found out his daughter was eating gari.

“I’m so disappointed. Just look at my phenomenal daughter, my adorable daughter drinking garri. This is not making sense to me anymore. What will Jay-Z say seeing my daughter drinking this shit? “See, your father is a brand. What will Jay-Z and Beyonce say? Is this what you take in your boarding school? Let me tell you, your father is a brand mehn, you’ve gotta stop all this shit. I’m so disappointed. I must say this, I’m so disappointed at you momma.”

Mercy Okocha, unperturbed, just laughed at her father’s complaints as she continued to enjoy her bowl of gari.

It was on her birthday. His father Charles Okocha did not fail to send her good wishes.

“Happy birthday to my Adorable, beautiful, phenomenal daughter. Shine forever princess. Daddy loves you.“
