In an announcement made on 20 July via social networks, musician Pascal Lokua Kanza claims to have been nominated for membership of the Recording Academy, which is the organising body of the Grammy Awards. Indeed, in view of his performances, styles and musical genres, the Congolese singer Pascal Lokua Kanza is now called to be a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences also called “Recording Academy”. A most spectacular appointment that makes the whole Africa proud. “I am very happy to announce that I am part of the Recording Academy, the one that handles the Grammy Awards and happy to join this great family of music creators and professionals,” said Pascal Lokua Kanza.
At the age of 64, the singer, artist and musician joined this assembly that deals with professional music and nominates for the Grammy Awards. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, based in the United States of America since 1958, awards Grammies to artists with great potential and technicians in the field of music to encourage them in their musical profession. So this appointment to this inner circle is not only a great honour for Pascal Lokua Kanza but also a great pride for Africa which is gaining in value and importance. Pascal Lokua Kanza has released several songs including “NKOLO” which is the most attractive and lively of his albums. He is also a multi-instrumentalist, lyricist, arranger and producer.
In addition to his own work, he has collaborated with a number of artists at home and abroad, including Papa Wemba, Koffi Olomide, Miriam Makeba, Fally Ipupa and Nana Mouskouri. In addition to music, he has been appointed by Unicef to be its national ambassador in the Democratic Republic of Congo on International Literacy Day in September 2021.
