Tiwa Savage spoke out about her performance at the coronation concert at Windsor Castle in England last May 7. Proud of herself, the singer hopes her success will inspire her son one day.
The day after the coronation of the new monarch of the United Kingdom Charles 3, a concert was organized in honor of the king and queen Camilla.
Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage was one of the artists invited to perform at the coronation concert.
The Queen of Afrobeats made a spectacular entrance on stage in a majestic green dress cheered by nearly 20 000 people.
She then performed her song Keys To The Kingdom in honor of the king. A song (ft Mr Eazi) that appears on the soundtrack album The Lion King: The gift of Beyoncé, inspired by the movie The Lion King.
“See how the sun and the moon bow for you? You’re the key to the kingdom.”
Thanks to her soothing voice, the African Bad Gyal mesmerized the guests. She also charmed the royal family sitting in the front row.
This May 8, the artist commented on the event through a tweet. She shared the video of her performance followed by a sentence that expresses her pride but also her desire to inspire her son.
“One day I will tell my son that this is ‘Tiwa Savage’.”
And the artist has much to be proud of. Her presence on stage at this historic event makes her the first Nigerian artist (woman and man combined) to sing at a coronation concert in the UK.
It is important to remember that the woman who was recently nearly kidnapped was not on foreign soil. She has, in fact, spent much of her life in the United Kingdom.
Most recently, she was at Buckingham Palace for the celebration of International Women’s Day. Tiwa Savage was one of the VIP guests of Queen Consort Camilla.
