Celebrities aren’t really free from danger. Some receive unwanted visitors for strange and almost funny reasons. But others receive them for serious reasons that threaten their safety. It is the case of Tiwa Savage who was the victim of an “attempted kidnapping.”

Through a post on her social networks this April 14, the famous Nigerian artist Tiwa Savage confirmed that there was indeed a security breach at her residence. Several suspects were reportedly arrested for a police investigation.

“Following recent reports online, we can confirm that on Thursday 13th April 2023 there was a major security breach at the residence of musician Tiwa Savage. A number of suspects were caught and are currently being held under investigation at Alagbon Police Station, Ikoyi. Ms Savage and her family are safe and well.

The press statement did not give any further details on the nature of the crime, nor the motive of the assailants.

Nevertheless, Nigerian investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo revealed late on the night of April 13 that Tiwa Savage had been the victim of a kidnapping attempt. According to her, there was a breach in the artist’s security. One of the new members of her domestic staff was allegedly a mole. Kemi Olunloyo had reassured Internet users that Tiwa was safe.

“Earlier today Thursday April 13th 2023, an attempt was made to KIDNAP Tiwa Savage in Lagos. A new domestic staff specifically a driver was passing information to his co-conspirators who have been trailing her as she left home for days. The guys have all been arrested with the help of vigilante style private security and they were handed to police at CID Alagbon in Ikoyi. […] Tiwa is OK and in seclusion. I haven’t spoken with her and police will brief the media soon.”

The investigative journalist did not fail to draw the attention of Nigerian celebrities to the insecurity of which they are the target.

“Celebrities be very careful and wary of your domestic staff at all times. Nigeria is very very dangerous these days. Don’t post your children online or your home etc. Just post your WORK.”

Heureusement que la chanteuse et sa famille s’en sont sorties saines et sauves. Cette nouvelle vient soulager les fans et admirateurs qui s’inquiétaient de la sécurité de Tiwa Savage.
