In the morning of Tuesday, December 13, 2022, the conference room of the National University of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (UNSTIM) of Abomey served as a setting for the official ceremony of handing over the construction site and equipment of the said university. The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Eleonore Yayi Ladékan, presided over the ceremony, accompanied by Adam Pinto, the Director of ACISE ( the Agency for the Construction of Infrastructure in the Education Sector).

It was a great satisfaction for the academic community of Unstim in general and the communal council of Abomey in particular. Finally, the great dream of the university community of Unstim in Abomey could come true. The populations of this commune will also be able to rejoice at having benefited from a great university jewel under the governance of Head of State Patrice Talon.

It is in these terms that Professor Edmond Codjo Adjovi, Vice Rector in charge of Academic Affairs and representing the Rector Joachim Djimon Gbenou expressed himself during the ceremony of handing over the site to the company MMC SEQUENCE. It is about the construction of pedagogical infrastructures and administrative blocks and a good working environment for the university community of Unstim according to the development of the architect MY ZIDANE BELLIMAN. Indeed, the project takes into account the construction of the National Institute of Preparatory Classes for Engineering Studies (INSPEI), the Rectorate of UNSTIM, a Restaurant, a Residential Block (dormitories) for students, an Infirmary, and annexed premises (main gatehouse, secondary gatehouse, TGBT transformer station, maintenance premises, water tank and water tower, AEP network, fence, and then roads and various networks.

According to the Minister of Higher Education, “This project is a major project amounting to 9,271,374,027 CFA francs, co-financed by the @badeabank (87.05%) and the National Budget (12.95%). The implementation period is 15 months. It will greatly impact a number of functions at the university level.

Moreover, according to the Director of ACISE, Adam Pinto, the said infrastructures are a response to the challenge of the quality of higher education which is in line with the monitoring approach imposed by the PAG projects. “The company in charge of the implementation of the project will respect the execution deadlines and deliver a sustainable work in accordance with the environment, energy transition and SDGs, so that UNSTIM can increase its capacity in administrative and pedagogical infrastructures of quality,” he said.

It should be noted that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is in charge of the project. The winning bidder is the Sequence Group and the Moroccan Modern Shipyard (MMC) is the leader. The design and elaboration of the architectural structure of the project was developed by the architect MY ZIDANE BELLIMAN. The ceremony ended with a visit to the site, where the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Eléonore Yayi Ladékan did not fail to invite all actors involved in the construction to invest so that the delivery deadline is respected.

On this occasion, students, teacher-researchers and administrative staff through their respective representatives did not fail to express their gratitude to the government and its Head for this initiative created for the happiness of all the components of the University of Abomey.
