The Togolese government and the trade unions and professional employers’ organisations have reached an agreement on the increase of the minimum wage in Lomé. Thus, the guaranteed interprofessional minimum wage has been raised to 52,500 FCFA, according to an announcement made by the National Council of Togolese Employers on Friday 30 December 2022.
For the past ten years (2012), the Togolese minimum wage has not been increased and was set at 35,000 CFA francs. This increase is 50% and reflects the authorities’ desire to improve workers’ living conditions at a time of rising commodity prices.
In addition to the revaluation of the minimum wage, the social partners also undertook to continue to work “together for the continuous improvement of the overall working conditions of employees, and in particular the purchasing power of workers and households”.
