Risk mapping is one of the important tools for improving governance and performance within organisations. In order to appropriate this tool, an essential link in the control and internal audit system, managers at various levels of UNSTIM have been participating in a training seminar since Monday 24 October 2022. The launching of the activities took place at the Abomey campus under the leadership of the Inspector General of the Ministry Mr Imorou Nagnimi.
Officials at various levels of the National University of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics (Unstim) are being trained on the achievements of risk mapping. Indeed, the government of the rupture has recently begun a reform to provide each ministry with a risk map. In this regard, certain decrees have been put in place for the reorganisation and professionalisation of control bodies with a view to better governance in all the ministries and structures under supervision. This is what justifies the organisation of this training seminar on risk mapping. It will be held on the university campus of Abomey (Sogbo-Aliho) from 24 to 29 October 2022.
Thus, the work brings together several actors from the two thematic universities of Benin (the National University of Agriculture (UNA) and the National University of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (Unstim). These are the Directors/Deans and their deputies, the General Secretaries and Accounting Officers of the Universities, the Accountants of the entities and the General Secretaries of the Entities.
“The objective for you is to acquire more knowledge and notions in the management of the public good. Thus, for the proper functioning of your respective universities and establishments, it is imperative to have a strategic and operational management tool to accomplish your missions, hence the need to take an active part in this activity,” announced Inspector General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MESRS) Imorou Nagnimi, who launched the meeting in the company of Professor Joachim Djimon Gbenou, Rector of UNSTIM.
Furthermore, for him, it is a question of achieving good performance in the management of public goods. It is no longer a question of navigating by sight but rather of managing for results with accountability, he said. It should be noted that every governance is confronted with risks of all kinds that can threaten the objectives set in the implementation of public policy. These meetings therefore play an essential role in strengthening the capacity of all actors involved in the management and expenditure chain of Benin’s public universities.
