The reasons for the putsch of Friday 30 September once again recalled
After the inauguration of Captain Ibrahim Traoré on Friday, no formal speech was written for the new transitional president to read. Captain Ibrahim Traoré preferred to use his own words to address the nation he is now in charge of. According to Captain Ibrahim Traoré, from 24 January to 30 September 2022, the army has seen drifts, contrary to the initial objectives.
“We have decided in all conscience, before the people, to assume our revolt,” said Ibrahim Traoré, who quoted Captain Thomas Sankara.
Ibrahim Traoré invites people to join the fight against insecurity
“For my part, I will be committed to your side, to the side of all Burkinabè (…) For my nation, I will fight until my last breath,” promises Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
Faced with the major challenge of Burkina Faso, which is insecurity, Captain Ibrahim Traoré also called on Burkinabè to mobilise their people to counter the phenomenon of terrorism.
Constitutional Council wants more than a promise
“It is not enough to take power. It is also necessary to be able to assume it fully and well, in the service of the Burkinabe people who have suffered too much. Make sure that the people are grateful to you,” said Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the interim president of the Constitutional Council, Boureima Cissé.
The interim president of the Constitutional Council also expressed the hope that the next time a democratically elected president of Faso is sworn in, it will be a president.
