According to sources close to the Transitional Legislative Assembly (TLA), Prime Minister Apollinaire Kyelem de Tambèla will make the General Policy Declaration. A constitutional exercise which he will undertake this Saturday 19 November 2022 from 10 am.
The General Policy Statement is a solemn and republican act instituted by Article 63 of the Constitution. It stipulates that ‘within thirty days of his appointment, the Prime Minister shall make a general policy statement before the National Assembly.
This statement is followed by a debate and a vote. The adoption of this declaration is equivalent to an investiture. If the general policy statement does not receive an absolute majority of the members of the National Assembly, the President of Faso shall dismiss the Prime Minister within eight days. It appoints a new Prime Minister in accordance with the provisions of Article 46.
It should be recalled that Me Apollinaire Kyelem of Tambèla was appointed Prime Minister on 21 October 2022. He succeeds Dr Albert Ouédraogo, who presented his General Policy Statement on 4 April 2022.
