It’s official! Every July 7, starting next year, Nigerian superstar Davido will be celebrated in Houston, USA. The proclamation was made by the city’s mayor, Sylvester Turner, in a press release issued yesterday. The award-winning megastar is currently on tour in the United States as part of the Timeless Tour. He was on stage yesterday in Houston, where he played to a full house at the Toyota Center.
At the concert, Houston City Council member Edward Pollard joined the singer on stage. He announced the good news to an enthusiastic crowd. Davido, overjoyed that a day had been named after him, jumped up and down in jubilation.
He shared a photo of the announcement as well as videos of the historic moment on his Instagram story.
No incidents occurred on stage, as it was the case during his concert in Lagos last April.
