Odd news from Nigeria! Professional masseuse Joyce Ijeoma collapsed during a Guinness world record attempt. She was interested in the record for the longest massage on individuals.
Guinness World Records gained popularity in Nigeria after the highly publicized adventure of Hilda Baci. The 26-year-old Nigerian chef broke the record for the world’s longest cooking marathon. She received her certification from the institution last June.
After Chef Dammy, who tried to defeat Hilda Baci, another Nigerian woman has now embarked on the Guinness adventure, but in a completely different category.
Joyce Ijeoma, a professional masseuse, set herself the challenge of massaging different people for 72 hours in Lekki, Lagos. She started her challenge full of energy on Saturday, July 1, 2023.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. Two days after the start, on July 3, the masseuse’s body gave out in the middle of her activity. A viral video shows that Joyce collapsed from exhaustion around the 50th hour, at about 1:30 a.m.
Considering that Joyce Ijeoma had lasted 50 hours before the incident, it is possible that she has set a new world record. Nevertheless, her supporters are wondering if her attempt will be considered by Guinness World Records, since she was unable to complete it.
Even though Ijeoma’s record is a first, the closest to it is the Guinness World Record for the longest full-body massage (25 hours and 4 minutes) held by Alastair Galpin.
