Kevin Hart in a wheelchair after a “stupid bet”

American actor and comedian Kevin Hart is currently in a wheelchair following a bet gone wrong. In a video posted on Instagram, he humorously recounted the misadventure that caused him to temporarily lose the use of his lower limbs.

”“I’m in a wheelchair. Why? Well, because I tried to jump out there and do some young stuff,”he announced.

Indeed, at a barbecue, the actor was “trying to get the title of the fastest”. To do so, he came up with the brilliant idea of racing against one of his friends, Stevan Ridley, a professional athlete. Unfortunately, he wasn’t fit enough to compete with his opponent. He tore his lower abdomen and adductors – the group of muscles in the hips and legs that facilitate leg movement and steady the trunk.

The 44-year-old actor regrets having deluded himself because he is now unable to walk for around “six to eight weeks”. During this period, Kevin Hart will only be able to get around in a wheelchair.

What are we competing for at this age? Why? What am I doing? Why did I even race? Stupidest s— ever. Now I can’t walk ‘cause I’m somewhere trying to get the title of the fastest at the barbecue? What was I thinking, son? God. Got to be the stupidest man alive.”

It seems Kevin Hart has taken the situation with humour. He sees it as a sign that he needs to slow down and act his age. He advised everyone in his age group to do the same.

“To all my men and women out there 40 years old and above, it’s not a game. Respect that age. Or that age will make you respect it. I was just forced to respect it.”
