MHD is not done with justice: he will be tried for murder in the Paris Court of Assizes next September with eight other people.
Nine suspects, including Mohamed Sylla alias MHD, will appear before the Paris court of assizes from 4 to 22 September, according to a source of the French media “Le Parisien”. The 28-year-old rapper and his co-accused were involved in a fatal brawl that claimed the life of 23-year-old Loïc K.
The facts date back to the night of July 5 to 6, 2018 in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. The young Loïc K. was first hit by a black Mercedes and then beaten by a group of men. He was eventually stabbed. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
A witness had filmed the scene with his phone from a nearby window. The rapper MHD has been linked to the case because the car that hit the victim is his. Several people had stated that the rapper often lent it to his mates. However, he was not off the hook. Witnesses were adamant that they recognized him at the crime scene by his hairstyle and his clothes, a Puma tracksuit. Note that the rapper was ambassador of the said brand.
The young rapper pleaded not guilty. After a year and a half in custody, MHD was released in the summer of 2020 under judicial supervision. Since his release, he has kept a low profile. He nevertheless released his third album of 15 tracks, Mansa, before disappearing completely from the music scene.
This case put on hold the career of the inventor of “Afro-trap”, a mixture of rap and African rhythms. He had a successful career and he made Africa and the world dance with hit songs like: A Kele Nta, La puissance, Bébé (feat Dadju), Bella (feat Wizkid), etc.
MHD will soon be tried for murder. He could get up to 30 years in prison. The verdict could decide the future of his career.
