The 3rd edition of the Animated Trimester started on 19 September and ended on 16 December 2022. This program, supported by the Benin Association of Animated Image Filmmakers (ACIAB), introduced 15 young people to the animation film industry. Now well equipped by professionals in the field, these young talents are in pole position to conquer the job market.
The ceremony of awarding the certificate of completion of training to 15 young beneficiaries of the program “The Animated Trimester”, took place in the presence of several distinguished guests and partners of the ACIAB, namely the Conrad GBAGUIDI Foundation represented by its president Conrad GBAGUIDI and Rafiy Okéfolahan, founder of La Grande Place.
Intensive training with an animated series
The workshop to introduce the 15 young people to the animation film industry lasted three months. Under the supervision of the trainers, the participants were able to produce “TOTCHE: Tovi exploring Porto-Novo”. A four-part animated series highlighting the history of the capital city, its sights and its gastronomy.
Satisfaction of the President and Executive Director of the ACIAB
The holding of the 3rd edition of the Animated Trimester in Porto-Novo was a challenge for ACIAB officials to give a new dimension to the program. This explains the rigour of the jury in selecting the candidates. The quality of the training provided is also one of the points of success of the event.
In his remarks, Bénédict I. Saïzonou, President of ACIAB, thanked the three major partners of the association (Vivendi Create Joy, Conrad GBAGUIDI Foundation and ”La Grande Place”) for their financial and technical support.
“Without you, dear partners, we will not be able to achieve our goals in view of the enormous challenge. He also took the opportunity to salute the recipients for their commitment and involvement throughout the course.
The same opinion was shared by Edjèdji Odilon Assou, Executive Director of ACIAB and Head of the Animated Trimester project. He is convinced that the succession is gradually being assured.
It was an opportunity for him to request the support of the government and other partners for the production of animated series in the 77 communes of Benin, such as Savalou in 2021 and Porto-Novo in 2022.
It should be recalled that the program ”Animated Trimester” of the ACIAB, in addition to the opportunity it offers to disadvantaged youth, is a program to fight against unemployment and poverty among youth.
